James Cox brings over 25 years of experience in offshore oil, gas, and renewables as a Naval Architect and Project Engineer. His career has encompassed roles in structural engineering, naval architecture, and offshore representation, collaborating with clients, installation contractors, fabricators, equipment suppliers, and Marine Warranty Surveyors to deliver effective and reliable project solutions.

Memorable project
James’ most memorable project was as a Naval Architect for the BP Chirag Oil Project, where he played a key role in the design of the drilling template and jacket. His focus was on the design of the installation systems, including ballasting systems and flotation tanks. Later, he was seconded to the client to represent them offshore during the installation of the lifted template, the 18,000t barge-launched jacket, and the 20,000t floatover topsides.
Outside of work
Residing in the New Forest near the Solent, James enjoys sailing, a hobby he continues from his professional yachtsman days. Outside of sailing, he spends time with his family and pet dachshund, as well as riding and maintaining his motorcycles, including a 100-year-old bike. He also enjoys socializing with friends and family.
