BARD 1 OWF Inter Array Cable Replacement

Project Summary

TADEK provided integrated engineering support for the Inter Array Cable Replacement campaign at the BARD Offshore Wind Farm, delivering installation analysis, project engineering, and offshore field engineering services.

TADEK delivered clear, practical engineering and on-site support that enabled safe execution, effective interface management, and efficient delivery of cable recovery and installation operations.

The Challenge

The BARD cable replacement works required coordinated engineering and execution across multiple scopes within a live offshore environment:

  • Complex cable recovery and installation within existing infrastructure
  • Restricted WTG access due to tripod foundation design
  • Multiple interfaces between vessel, WTG teams, subcontractors, and equipment
  • Requirement for accurate installation analysis to define safe operational limits
  • Early identification and mitigation of risks prior to offshore mobilisation

TADEK‘s Role

TADEK delivered a full lifecycle engineering and offshore support scope, including:

  • Development of cable lay, 1st end, 2nd end, and freelay installation analyses
  • Complex pull-in analysis and weak link assessment between CPS and pull-in systems
  • Preparation of execution procedures for cable loading, recovery, installation and WTG readiness
  • Participation in CPS mock-up trials and site visits to verify operational feasibility
  • Onboard and on-site field engineering support during mobilisation, execution and demobilisation
  • An operational guideline of 1st and 2nd end analysis were provided to the field engineers to ensure operational success
  • Coordination with client representatives, Marine Warranty Surveyors and offshore crews

Our Approach

Our approach focused on delivering engineering that was practical and aligned with offshore operations:

  • Installation analyses were developed to define clear operational parameters, including tension, layback, and vessel positioning
  • Lay tables and schematics were optimised to maximise operability and provide clarity for offshore teams
  • Early engagement, including site visits and mock-up trials, ensured equipment and procedures were fit for purpose
  • Close collaboration with client and subcontractors enabled strong interface management and planning
  • Offshore field engineers ensured procedures were followed, while enabling real-time problem-solving during execution

Outcomes

The cable replacement campaign achieved the following outcomes:

  • Cable recovery, installation, and pull-in operations completed safely and efficiently
  • 1st and 2nd end pull-ins executed in line with engineering analysis and procedures
  • Cable offloading operations successfully delivered
  • Early identification and resolution of technical issues reduced offshore risk
  • Effective coordination across all interfaces ensured smooth execution
  • All works completed in accordance with approved documentation and engineering requirements
