Project Summary
TADEK delivered integrated engineering, analysis, and offshore execution support for the installation and recovery of the BPT Demonstrator at FabTest.
Our team developed a novel tow and mooring approach, enabling safe installation, stable operations, and controlled recovery over a three-month offshore testing campaign.
The Challenge
The installation presented a series of critical engineering and operational constraints:
- Complex and heavy mooring installation with low-cost assets
- Limited deck clearance required development of alternative chain handling solutions
- Vessel and equipment limitations impacting installation methodology
- Late-stage changes driven by spot market availability and operational constraints
TADEK‘s Role
Tadek delivered end-to-end engineering, analysis, and offshore support across all project phases:
- Bollard pull, hookup, and installation sensitivity analyses
- FEED support and installation strategy development
- Vessel and equipment specification and procurement
- Steelwork and supporting structural design
- Operational procedures and QHSE documentation
- On-site engineering oversight and stakeholder coordination
Our Approach
Engineering was iteratively developed and refined to address constraints and maintain operability offshore:
- Early stage optioneering and steering to improve constructability
- Performed analysis to validate novel tow, hookup, and mooring configurations
- Adapted procedures and engineering documentation to accommodate vessel change within 24 hours
- Integrated offshore feedback into engineering decisions to maintain safe and workable operations
Outcomes
Installation and recovery were completed safely and on time:
- Engineering solutions enabled installation without modification to existing vessel pipework
- Alternative chain handling method allowed safe execution under constrained conditions
- Vessel change accommodated without disruption to overall project delivery
- Installation and recovery executed with full engineering oversight and control
