On most projects, the OrcaFlex models built during the design phase end up sitting in an archive folder, waiting to be deleted in the next IT housekeeping exercise.
Last week, Bijesh Chenna Kandathil presented a case study showing how Tadek gives these models a second life, at GUH Cables conference in Blyth.
By plugging design-phase models to live hindcast data, Tadek delivers continuous fatigue monitoring of subsea cables.
For asset owners, this means they can:
- Compare actual accumulated fatigue damage against design predictions
- Build a risk profile for every cable across the wind farm
- Optimise maintenance plans based on real cable condition
- Assess how cables performed after a storm or following remedial stabilisation works
Bijesh also highlighted why fatigue analysis needs to capture the sophistications of cable stick-slip behaviour and hysteresis, and how fatigue results can be presented in a way that is intuitive and gives asset managers real insight.
