Project Summary
Tadek led the engineering management, procedural development, and on-site engineering support for the nearshore cable pull-in and landfall operations on Viking Link — the world’s longest subsea power interconnector.
Engaged at short notice, our team provided clear, practical engineering that enabled safe execution, strong interface coordination, and schedule certainty under challenging nearshore conditions.
The Challenge
The Viking Link nearshore works required rapid mobilisation and robust engineering assurance to support a complex and tightly constrained offshore campaign:
- Minimal lead-in time with a fixed installation window
- Multiple contractors, vessels and onshore assets operating in shallow water
- Variable seabed conditions, shifting sandbanks and longshore currents
- Technical assurance requirements aligned with DNV and Marine Warranty standards
Tadek’s Role
Tadek was appointed to lead end-to-end engineering management and offshore technical support for the nearshore landfall scope, including:
- Development of pull-in, burial and trenching procedures and operational storyboards
- Production of risk assessments, HIRAs and QHSE documentation
- Technical interface management across vessels, RHIBs, plant, winches and onshore crews
- On-site engineering presence to manage technical queries, changes and MOCs
- Daily progress reporting and preparation of full as-built documentation
Our Approach
Our focus was on delivering engineering that was clear, usable and offshore-ready.
- Procedures and storyboards were developed with direct input from operational teams to ensure clarity and practicality
- Engineering decisions were grounded in real-time site conditions and installation constraints
- Close collaboration with contractors and suppliers ensured technical alignment across all interfaces
- On-site engineering support enabled rapid problem-solving and maintained operational control throughout execution
Outcomes
- Nearshore pull-in and burial operations delivered safely, on schedule, and without incident
- Procedures and storyboards delivered with operational clarity, earning high praise from project teams
- Seamless coordination across offshore and onshore interfaces, driving efficiency and success
- Comprehensive as-built documentation provided to support project close-out and future reference
