Education and professional background

David is a structural engineer and consultant with more than 20 years’ experience across offshore renewables, oil and gas, chemicals and marine infrastructure. He holds a BEng (Hons) in Manufacturing Engineering from Loughborough University, and has developed broad technical leadership experience across complex multidisciplinary projects in the UK and internationally.

Progressing from graduate to principal, lead and consulting roles, he combines structural analysis with technical leadership. His experience covers steelwork for topsides, process modules, pipe racks, access systems, equipment supports, lifting frames and temporary works, from concept and detailed design through fabrication and site delivery.

David’s expertise

David brings practical structural judgement to Tadek assignments across the project lifecycle, from surveys and appraisal to detailed analysis, fabrication support and site delivery. He specialises in structural steel, using STAAD.Pro, ANSYS and hand calculations to develop robust, buildable solutions.

For brownfield modifications, temporary works, lifting and sea-fastening scopes, he identifies critical load paths early and explains the engineering basis clearly. Working alongside Tadek’s team, he collaborates closely with clients, certifiers, fabricators and multidisciplinary teams to resolve interfaces and produce concise, auditable deliverables. Memorable Project

David’s most memorable project was leading secondary structural engineering for the BalWin1, BalWin2 and LanWin2 offshore HVDC converter stations. The project team was responsible for the design of approximately 1,850 tonnes of secondary steel, including platforms, stair towers and supports for major electrical equipment. Coordinating primary steel, vendor and multidisciplinary interfaces across three assets made it a rewarding opportunity to combine technical design, team leadership and a consistent approach.
