Project Summary
Tadek provided comprehensive Project Engineering for the Transport & Installation operations for the EFGL Floating Wind Farm.
The Challenge
With much media and public attention, the project was pressured for success which Tadek helped deliver through the leadership of all the operational engineering. Specific challenges included:
- Towing & berthing within the narrow/shallow channel of Port La Nouvelle
- Low weather limits for important operations
- Strict installation tolerances
- Many contractors involving rigorous interface management
Tadek’s Role
Tadek was involved in all stages of the Transport & Installation, delivering procedures, tow manuals, draughting, rigging design, vessel specifications, lift plans, passage planning, contractor interfaces, and as-built recording for the following operations:
- Mobilisation
- Mooring pre-lay
- Towing
- Ballasting & Lift Bag operations
- Berthing Operations & Quayside Management
- Hook-Up
- On-site project engineering at each stage
Our Approach
This project was delivered using a dynamic and pragmatic approach. Tadek procedures and engineering were followed throughout to enable efficient and safe operations.
Extensive planning and engineering was undertaken and completed to satisfy the authorities, Client, and MWS. Specific focus was given to Tug spread capability through the challenging narrow channels, and Hook-Up planning to facilitate optimal FWT positioning, define installation aid requirements, and comply with strict installation tolerances.
Outcomes
Tadek took leading roles throughout the T&I work scope, enabling efficient, slick and safe execution.
3x 10MW (the most powerful installed on a floating structure at the time) Floating Wind Turbines installed successfully, marking the fastest hook-ups of WindFloat platforms ever achieved.
