Tadek Performs FOW Damping Experiment

Last week, our team – supported by our 3 summer naval architect interns – completed model tests of a semi-sub FOW platform. The tests were a training exercise to simulate and validate first principles engineering.

Following a model scale inclining experiment, the team performed decay tests with different sizes of damping plate, each experiment used to calibrate an Orcaflex model by tuning damping coefficients derived by hand and code.

We combined the experimentation with a team day by the pool, building cardboard vessels and reflecting on strategy and collaboration.

At Tadek, we believe engineering is not only about solving technical problems but also about cultivating an environment where ideas, people and purpose come together.
