Project Summary
TADEK delivered a structured engineering framework to N-Sea to support offshore cable repair operations, integrating analysis methodologies, templates, and a scenario-based system to improve consistency and execution across a wide range of repair conditions.
The Challenge
Cable repair operations required rapid engineering response under complex and variable offshore conditions:
- Time-critical failures requiring immediate analysis
- No standardised methodology across repair scenarios
- Repetitive setup of models and reports
- Large variation in environmental, vessel, and cable conditions
- High consequence of delays (vessel downtime, cost)
- MWS approval requirements introducing bottlenecks
- Limited reuse of previous engineering work
TADEK‘s Role
TADEK was responsible for defining and implementing a unified engineering framework for cable repair analysis:
- Preparing analysis methodology documents for prior approval by the MWS
- Develop structured report templates
- Creating OrcaFlex template models covering a range of repair scenarios
- Design a scenario-based engineering system to enable rapid response when a call-off is initiated
Our Approach
TADEK applied a holistic approach, bringing together client requirements, industry guidance and numerical analysis to develop the best solution. The project went through steps providing a clear decision-making process:
- Definition of design criteria and operational philosophy
- Screening and evaluation of alternative mooring configurations
- LNG carriers environmental loads and response analysis
- Design and development of bespoke square mooring buoy and mooring components
- Full dynamic simulation of operational and survival load cases
